Real wedding: A springtime celebration by the water in Chichester
Keen sailors Neil and Sarah planned a nautical-inspired wedding to celebrate their love - both for each other and for the sea!

They tied the knot at at Edes House, followed by a reception at Itchenor Sailing Club in West Sussex.

"We wanted to get married by the sea and be able to party into the night. On our first visit to Itchenor Sailing Club, we fell in love with it. It was perfect for us. The food choices and quality are amazing; it has an incredibly welcoming feel and a great bar," says Sarah. "We could accommodate up to 32 guests for the night before and the night of the wedding, and we were allowed to make the venue our own."

The couple chose Simon Biffen to capture the day. “Simon is a phenomenal photographer and he totally surpassed our expectations."
Claire and Sarah from Ivy Lane created the floral look.

"They did the most amazing job. We had given them a fairly tricky brief, which included blues to match the bridesmaids’ dresses, whites (but not too cold) and green to match the ushers’ ties. We didn’t want the flowers to be too manicured, but we didn’t want them to look as though they had been thrown together. Claire and Sarah total understood us and could visualise what we were trying to achieve."

The table names
Neil and Sarah named their tables after boats they've sailed.

The couple asked guests to write a message on a postcard and pin it to a nautical-themed board.
"We had a bon bon table with pink and white stripe bags to remind us of our favourite sweetshop in Devon," says Sarah.
The bride and groom's looks

Sarah chose a Sincerity Bridal dress from The Wedding Warehouse in West Berkshire.

“I went for a chiffon, embroidered lace fit and flare gown with a sweetheart neckline. The dress came in two parts – the main part was strapless with a corseted body and buttons down the back. On top of this I wore a matching embroidered lace jacket that also buttoned down the back.
Neil wore a Suit that Fits suit, with yacht-shaped cufflinks from Links of London as a subtle nod to the nautical theme.
The bridal party & ushers
Sarah’s bridesmaids wore vibrant blue dresses from John Lewis, with metallic shoes and Links of London jewellery. The ushers wore navy suits from Next.
Sarah and Neil's guests enjoyed a mouthwatering menu:

Starter

Crab, Smoked Salmon and Avocado Tian, with a Herb and Green Leaf Salad

Pearl Barley Risotto (V)

Main

Seared Rump of Lamb, with Sweet Potato and Celeriac Dauphinoise, Seasonal Vegetables and Rosemary Jus

Roast Wild Mushroom and Leek Shepherd’s Pie (V)

Dessert

Lemon Posset with Shortbread Finger, Summer Berries and Coulis
Instead of a sweet cake, the couple ordered cake of cheese from Marks & Spencer.
