The Glasgow wedding venue
Nicky and Siobhan held their wedding at Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort, but had originally planned to get married in Las Vegas.

"We went over to Las Vegas to pick our venue, but when we came back we completely changed our minds," explains Siobhan.

"We had been trying to make our Las Vegas wedding too Scottish and traditional and it was too hard. We wanted all of our loved ones to make the wedding, so decided to do it in Scotland."

"We still wanted it to feel like we were going away for the weekend, so decided to do it outside of Edinburgh, where we live. We met in Glasgow so looked at venues there and fell in love with Mar Hall as soon as we saw it."

READ MORE: 29 Fabulous Wedding Venues in Scotland
The black and ivory wedding theme
Nicky and Siobhan chose black and ivory as their wedding colours.

"I wanted it to be really classy and clean, while looking glamorous," Siobhan says of their theme.

"I love how ivory flowers look so fresh, and the venue was so beautiful we wanted a palette that would complement it."

The tables were adorned with black table cloths, large white flower arrangements and floating candles.

READ MORE: 22 White Wedding Flowers Ideas
The wedding table decorations
The place names were black acrylic cut-outs, and they were accompanied by mini bottles of spirits as favours.

"Everyone loved the favours as it gave them an extra drink for free!" says Siobhan.

READ MORE: 33 Unique Name Card Ideas for your Wedding
The white wedding cake
The four tier wedding cake was made by 3D Cakes in Glasgow and was adorned with ivory ribbon.

"I wanted it really simple," says Siobhan. "Each layer was a different flavour, and I think people really enjoyed this."

READ MORE: 17 White Wedding Cakes Perfect for Traditional Weddings

The unusual wedding guest book
As we all as traditional guest book, Nicky and Siobhan also has wooden hearts for guests to write messages on, and post into an advice box.

READ MORE: 10 of the best unusual wedding guestbook ideas
The wedding dress
Siobhan's Martina Liana wedding dress was purchased from Pan Pan Bridal in Edinburgh.

It was a trumpet style wedding dress, with delicate lace detailing and a long train with laser cut edges, which caused Siobhan to fall in love with it.
The strappy wedding dress
The dress had a pretty low back and detailed thin straps, and had a subtle shimmer throughout which added to the glamour.
Jimmy Choo wedding shoes
Siobhan accessorised her outfit with a metallic pair of Jimmy Choo wedding shoes.

Blush pink bridesmaid dresses
The bridesmaids wore pale blush pink bridesmaid dresses from TFNC London.

"I wanted my bridesmaids to look glamorous and classy, and this shade suited all of their colourings," explains Siobhan.
The groom's kilt
Nicky wore a kilt in grey Hebridean storm tartan, complete with matching ties from The Kilt Store.
The wedding date
Nicky and Siobhan got married on 19th May 2018 - the same day as Meghan and Harry!

"In the run up to the wedding we did a number of interviews with Scottish radio stations, comparing our wedding to the Royal Wedding, which made it really exciting for our guests because our friends heard us on the radio," says Siobhan.
The most memorable part of the day
"Sitting at the top table we both took a moment to look at everyone laughing, joking and having fun with the people they had never met before, and it was really special to us," shares Siobhan.
Wedding planning advice for other couples
"Try to remember not to stress about the small things, it all comes together on the day and the small things seem insignificant," says Siobhan.

"Also, make your day as personal as you can. We tried to make the day match our personalities rather than doing things we felt we had to, and it made us a lot more special for us and our guests."

READ MORE: 30 ways to personalise your wedding
