Real Wedding: A Chic, Country Style Wedding in Sussex with a Gold and Champagne Wedding Dress
Carly eschewed the tradition for a white wedding dress, instead opting for a glorious gold and champagne gown with glittering crystals sewn on by her grandmother.
They embraced the countryside setting with a peach and cream colour scheme and countless DIY touches, making their day a truly personal affair.

The church wedding venue
Carly and Terry held their wedding ceremony at St. Mary's Church in East Sussex, with the reception in the church hall.

"I lived in the local village as a child and have wonderful memories of the area," says Carly. "The location was perfect, and since the hall was opposite the church it was the perfect intimate wedding we'd hoped for."

READ MORE: The Y&YW guide to Church of England weddings
The wedding theme
The wedding had a chic, country theme with a gold and peach colour scheme.

"I used Pinterest for a lot of ideas and spent hours on the phone with my Grandmother talking the ideas out and planning how we were going to achieve it, she was my absolute rock," says Carly.

"My family is very creative so we were able to create so much between us. I'd have an idea and my Grandma would find a way to make it work."

READ MORE: 50 country wedding ideas we want to steal

One of the more ambitious projects was the unique table plan, crafted from an old cart wheel.
The floral wedding stationery
Carly and Terry's elegant wedding stationery was designed by Carly's aunty, which the couple credit as one of their best budgeting ideas.

READ MORE: Incredibly Clever Ways to Save Money on your Wedding
The pastel wedding flowers
The rustic, loose style flowers were created by Terry's cousin, Mrs Neech Flowers.

"I showed our florist some photos and she knew exactly what we wanted," explains Carly.
The floral wedding cake
The gorgeous white wedding cake was made by Carly's mother and grandmother and was decorated with flowers, gold leaves and a cute cake topper to tie in with the theme for the day.

The wedding dress
Carly wore a gorgeous champagne and gold wedding dress, which her grandma added extra sparkle to.

"I loved that my dress wasn't white or ivory!" shares Carly. "It was the first dress I tried on, and it was the one! I loved the gold embroidery and my grandmother is an amazing seamstress so she added extra crystals onto it."

"I always thought I'd have a dress this style, but never imagined I wouldn't wear a white or ivory dress."

READ MORE: Coloured wedding dresses we love
The groom's suit
Terry wore a dapper blue wedding suit, hired from Youngs Hire, complete with a rustic button hole created with the same flowers from the bouquets.

Carly's bridesmaids wore blush pink bridesmaid dresses courtesy of Debut at Debenhams.

"Choosing dresses for my bridesmaids was probably the hardest bit of the whole wedding!" admits Carly.

"I must have ordered 20 dresses; all the girls are different shapes and heights so it was important to get one they'd all feel comfortable in, as well as the right colour."
The most memorable moment
"My dad's speech was amazing," says Carly. "It was different, and unexpected and he even had props. He was worried about having to tell stories and say heartfelt words so this was just perfect."

When we asked Carly about any big day nerves, she commented: "All morning I felt very relaxed until we stood outside the church and I heard the organ playing. The nerves started then, but when i got to the front and saw how nervous Terry looked I felt much more at ease."
