Real Wedding: A Bohemian Cliffside Celebration in Cornwall with a Claire Pettibone Dress
Johnny opted for a dapper rustic style suit, while Victoria channelled boho vibes in her beautifully embellished Claire Pettibone wedding dress.
For their wedding theme, the couple brought a taste of Morocco to their Cornish celebration, with bold jewel tones dominating the day.

Victoria and Johnny met at a surf competition on Porthmeor beach in St. Ives, and Johnny chose the spot for his proposal, too.

"We were walking along the shoreline and i found an old glass corked bottle with a rolled up piece of paper in it," explains Victoria.

"I started to get quite excited thinking I'd found a real message in a bottle, but as I read it I realised it was meant for me. Johnny then dropped onto one knee."
The wedding favours
Johnny's proposal influenced the personalised favours that the couple provided for their guests.

"We bought everyone a small corked bottle and decorated them all individually," shares Victoria.

"We then dyed some paper in tea to make it look old, and used an old fountain pen to handwrite personal letters to each guest. We then rolled it up, tied it with string and popped it into the bottle."

The Cornwall wedding venue
Johnny and Victoria held their outdoor wedding ceremony and reception at Porth En Alls House, Prussia Cove, Cornwall.

“We wanted our day to be completely private and Porth en Alls gave us both stunning views and total seclusion,” reveals Victoria.

“It was the only venue we looked at as we knew nothing else could compare. It’s located in a secluded private cove, perched above the rocks by the sea. The house itself is quirky and beautiful with so much character and charm. It’s not what you’d call fancy or luxurious! It’s old and retains it's original furniture and features. There is no TV, no internet or phone signal –But this is everything we loved about it – it was just perfect for us.”
The handmade stationery
Victoria designed the invites, creating a bohemian aesthetic with feather and dreamcatcher detailing.

READ MORE: What to write in your wedding stationery
The wedding table plan
Dreamcatchers were a theme throughout the day, appearing on the table plan too.

"I bought a Moroccan inspired canvas and made a dream catcher for each table and cut out a circle of card for the centre of each catcher and wrote the names onto it to act as a table plan," says Victoria.

READ MORE: Table Plan Inspiration from Real Couples
The ceremony decorations
The ceremony was held in the walled garden of the venue, complete with a bohemian wicker arch decorated with bunches of pretty flowers.

The wedding cards
Victoria and Johnny had a unique card table on their wedding day, using Johnny's guitar case for wedding cards.
The wedding colour scheme
Inspired by their travels to Morocco and Bali, Johnny and Victoria chose jewel tones for their wedding day, and the rich colours were most apparent on the beautifully decorated tables, which held host to eclectic brass ornaments, colourful tablecloths, pheasant feathers and gold candelabras.
"We choose foods and flavours that reflected our travels and also the Cornish coast," says Victoria.

"We had Cornish cheeses and cured meats to start, slow roasted lamb in morrocan spices with almonds apricots and mint, skeweres of pollock and tuna, and marinated mackerel with sticky date and lime."
The wedding cake
"My mum and I made the fruit cake about six months before the wedding and kept feeding it with whisky and brandy," shares Victoria.

"My friend Gemma made the sponge tiers and decorated it for us. It looked and tasted incredible and we were so happy with it."

This cake would fit in perfectly at a gold and pink themed wedding, too.
"On the pathway that leads to the house we left a treasure chest with a bottle of rum and shot glasses for the guests to have on their walk down to the house," says Victoria.
The wedding dress
Victoria purchased her Claire Pettibone dress from Carina Baverstock Couture, and the boho wedding dress perfectly complemented the outdoor day.

"I knew I wanted something a bit different and as soon as I saw all the gold tassles and the beautiful details I knew it was the one," reminisces Victoria.

The bridal accessories
Victoria accessorised her gown with a long veil with gold accents, an opal necklace of belonging to her mum and a gold opal bangle which was originally owned by her grandma.

"My look came together from things I found throughout the planning process. I’ve always loved anything a bit different, quirky and bohemian," Victoria says.
The yellow bridesmaid dresses
Victoria's bridesmaids wore yellow bridesmaid dresses from H&M in a pretty mustard shade, reminiscent of springtime in Cornwall.

"High heels and formal dresses just wouldn’t have fitted in with the venue and isn’t my style," admits Victoria.

"All the girls wore different brown boots and kimonos. They also had floral head wreaths too."

READ MORE: 27 ways to wear flowers in your hair on your wedding day
The groom's attire
Johnny opted for a rustic groom's suit, purchased from Topman, with his groomsmen rocking suits in a similar style.
Advice for other couples
"Try not to get too carried away with spending huge amounts of money," suggests Victoria.

"I saved money by buying my décor from car boot sales and charity shops. Also don’t be afraid to do something a bit different! Be brave, get crafty and create a wedding that reflects your relationship and personalities."
"We saved quite alot of money by having our wedding in March," comments Victoria.

"Renting a house also meant we could supply our own wine, champagne etc and had accommodation for most of our family. We also had the house for six nights so we had lots of time with our family and friends."

READ MORE: Incredibly Clever Ways to Save Money on your Wedding
