Real Wedding: A Rustic Day in South Africa with a Bespoke Wedding Dress
They kept the decor pared back to allow the venue and stunning views do the talking, choosing a natural green and cream colour scheme.
As a jewellery designer, Anna had a very specific look in mind for her dress and we think you'll agree, it's truly breathtaking.

The South African wedding venue
Anna and Rehan both grew up in The Cape Winelands and have deep roots in the area, so decided to hold their wedding there, traveling over from their home in London for the big day.

"We really wanted a venue that portrays the beauty of The Winelands and mountains we love so much," says Anna.

"We visited a few venues and Zorgvliet Wine Estate ticked all the boxes."

READ MORE: Top 10 tips for planning a destination wedding
The natural colour scheme
Anna and Rehan wanted a natural look for their wedding day, so opted for an olive green, sage, cream and white colour palette.

"Our theme was rustic tuscan with a South African twist," shares Rehan.

"Anna coming from an Italian Family and myself coming from an Afrikaans background we tried to combine both cultures and inspirations into our wedding. We used a lot of leafy greens, olive branches which is typical of Southern Italy where Anna’s family is from and Protea/succulent flowers which is typical of South Africa."
Sleek wedding decorations
They went natural with the flowers too, opting for a rustic and ornate aesthetic, that reflected their culture and personality.

Bunches of olive leaves were suspended from the ceiling, which perfectly completed the sleek white venue's clean look.
The table names
"We wanted to do something unique for our wedding table names, so we chose different fruits and allocated a fruit to each table," explains Anna.

"We had fig, grapes, lemon, pear and pomegranate. To indicate which fruit was allocated to which table we had a rustic ceramic pot filled with fruit and pinned a hand drawing of each fruit."
The lace wedding dress
Anna's lace wedding dress was bespoke, created by South African designer Non-European.

"I worked with the dressmaker in order to design the perfect dress for me," says Anna.
The detailed back
Anna's bespoke wedding dress had a low back, with detailing around the satin buttons for a delightfully elegant touch.
The grey bridesmaids dresses
The bridesmaid dresses were also bespoke, created by the same designer.

"I wanted the colour to be subtle and the fabric natural, so we went with a combination of lace grey chiffon and lace," says Anna.
Bespoke wedding stationery
Anna and Rehan had an olive wreath logo designed for their stationery, which was used across all of it.
"We wanted a very rustic look for our menu and all of the stationery, to tie in with the day," says Rehan.

"Our menu was a mixture of Italian and South African traditional food and finished with a true Italian dessert buffet with Limoncello and Amarulla (South African) Liquors."
The rustic wedding cake
"Our wedding cake was made by a family friend," shares Anna.

"It was a three tier cake consisting of three flavours; vanilla cream, lemon and lastly hazelnut and coffee. The cake was finished with vanilla icing, decorated with olive leaves and seated on a vintage silver engraved cake stand."
The first dance
Anna and Rehan did their first dance to 1234 by Feist.

"Rehan is not much of a dancer so we selected a song that we both really loved and which was more upbeat opposed to really slow," explains Anna.

READ MORE: The Most Popular First Dance Choices for 2017
The most memorable moment
"My most memorable moment was when Rehan did his speech," says Anna.

"Afrikaans is his first language, and as he stood up for his speech he started off by saying to the guests that the only way he could speak from the heart would be in his first language."

READ MORE: Expert tips for your wedding speech
