Hey ladies

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all the Afro/ Caribbean brides. I've noticed brides are asking the same questions, especially when it comes to venues that can hold our ridiculous numbers and don't have restrictions loool. So thought it would be a good idea to have a go to place.

Please add information with regards to venue and different suppliers.

There used to be one but for some reason it disappeared

I'll try and add some tonight but the more the merrier

Hi Neeks bride to be,

what at a great idea. I really need help finding a venue that can hold over 200 guests, allows external catering and doesn't charge corkage. I'm finding it do difficult to find something that is really elegant and within budget (£7k). Would be nice to hear from other ladies.

Hey girls

great thread, need as much help as I can possibly get inititially our budget was £12000 but that is only a little bit of savings we had and we are using our salaries to pay things off gradually but my venue was £3750 but that included decorating it, knives, folks, plates, cups etc..we've got a budget of £4000 for food but that is to feed 250 guests my dress was £1500 so as you can see its spirialing out of control...any tips on how to reduce costs?

Thanks x

Hi Ladies

Hoping one of you may be able to help me?

I'm not an African or Caribbean bride but I am trying to fuse both English (mine) and Ghanaian (OH)  cultures into our wedding.

I originally did not want to change into a traditional outfit as I'm so in love with my wedding dress I didn't want to have to take it off! But as we have also decided not to have a Traditional Ghanaian wedding and just have the white wedding I know my Mother in Law would be really happy if we changed into cloth, even if just for a little while.

Usually we go to one of his aunties to have our cloth made but as we would like this to be a surprise (and we know they will tell his mum) I need help finding a good dress maker who could help me design something and make it.

I am based in North London but happy to travel. I also have the Kente cloth.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Thank you ladies x

Hey all, what a great idea to create this thread!

The MUA I have booked doesn't necessarily specialise in Afro however she does a lot of work for magazine, fashion catwalk, and TV. so she is very use to working with skin of colour and I've seen her work she's amazing. And also my bridesmaids are English so works well!

She lives in Essex so local for anyone around London.

I didn't think she was too badly priced she's charging me £165 for my bridemake up

£40 bridesmaid make up

Neeks I was reading though your planning thread your day sounds incredible! And colour scheme is exactly the same as mine :)

If you don't mind me being cheeky I saw that you have booked with DJ MRI. was wondering roughly how much he charges? We have already booked ours but am starting to have second thoughts lol.
