It's the moment we've been waiting for: after weeks of speculation, we finally know what Meghan Markle's wedding dress looks like.
The glorious Givenchy dress was designed by Clare Waight Keller, the fashion house's artistic director and a renowned British designer. At Y&YW we know a thing or two about wedding dresses, and it's actually very close to what we predicted she'd wear. We didn't realise she'd have such a showstopping veil, though!
Our editor-at-large and resident fashion expert Peta Hunt gives her verdict: "I loved the high boat neck with the clean lines," she says. "The tiara and full-on veil are so romantic and really say 'bride'. This is a silk tulle cathedral length veil, which works perfectly in this huge chapel."
"Meghan is definitely wearing the dress and not drowning under a huge gown," says Peta. "We have alway been fans of long sleeves - it’s nice to see a bride in a such a modern classic style. This is so appropriate for the occasion and venue, when you need a strong dress to fill the aisle!"
So what if you love this look but aren't on a Royal budget?
"Viktor & Rolf, Justin Alexander, Sassi Holford and Alan Hannah all have wedding gowns that have elements of her fantastic dress in silk," says Peta. "Pronovias, Grace Philips, Sassi Holford and Rosa Clara, to name a few, also have similar elegant styles."
And how does the dress compare to what actress Meghan's Suits character wore for her on-screen wedding? "This is a much stronger statement!" says Peta. "That was a lace v-neck with a tulle underskirt, this is more dramatic. And it shows how strong the bridal industry is in the UK - we produce great designers!" Meghan also chose something rather different from the Duchess of Cambridge.
She changed into a bespoke Stella McCartney gown for the evening party. We love the timeless glamour of this look. If you want something similar, check our our gallery of the most beautiful halterneck wedding dresses - including one that's under £100!
